Starfish
Starfish levels are designed as age appropriate swimming lessons for children aged 6 months to 3 years.
Starfish Bronze
Age: 6 to 12 months
Class size: 8 maximum
Lesson length: 30 minutes
This nurturing group provides quality water familiarisation classes. The program allows children to actively participate in water exploration whilst developing their social skills in a warm, safe and friendly environment. Our qualified and friendly instructors will assist in teaching you and your child aquatic skills through the use of songs, games and repetitive practice.
Starfish Silver
Age: 1 to 3 years
Class size: 10 maximum
Lesson length: 30 minutes
This group allows both the parent and child to become confident with the pool and lesson format. The program includes water exploration, movement and water safety through songs and games. Floatation aids may be used from time to time to assist with gaining independence and skill development. Parent participation in the water is required for this program.
Starfish Gold
Age: 2 ½ to 3 years
Class size: 3 maximum
Lesson length: 30 minutes
Starfish Gold provides a transition to independent swimming lessons for children who have attended and completed our Starfish Silver level prior to their 3rd birthday. The group will focus on independent movement through water and water safety.
What to wear:
- Children should wear light weight comfortable clothing with firm fit around the legs to avoid ‘unwanted accidents’ in the water.
- Nappies designed for swimming are appropriate for lessons. Regular nappies should not be worn in the water.
- Toilet trained children should wear bathers.
- Parents should wear t-shirts to provide starfish children with something to hold onto.
